What are Theatre Tokens?

Theatre Tokens are gift vouchers which are exchangeable for tickets at over 300 theatres across the UK, including London's West End. See a full list of participating theatres.

Theatre Tokens are available to buy as Gift Cards or eGifts, available in any amount from £5. Pre-2017, Theatre Tokens were paper vouchers available in denominations of £5, £10 and £20. As Theatre Tokens have no expiry date, all variations of the Tokens are still redeemable, but some older versions of the voucher may need to be replaced for security reasons - see our information on ‘legacy vouchers’.

You can also use Theatre Tokens to buy tickets online at OfficialLondonTheatre.com. This means they can be used in both The Official London Theatre Sale and for Kids Week. The Sale is an annual sale that encourages people to 'Get Into London Theatre' with tickets to big West End shows starting from as little as £10 for the first six weeks of the year. Kids Week is a way of encouraging families to get into the habit of going to the theatre. For the whole of August, a child who’s aged 17 or under can go to any London participating show for FREE as long as they’re accompanied by a full paying adult. Adults can also buy up to two extra children’s tickets at half price. Plus, there’s free activities on selected dates and Kids Eat Free deals available.

You can buy Gift Cards and eGifts online here, or in person from participating theatres or high street retailers including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose, John Lewis, WHSmith, Waterstones, Co-op and Boots:

How and where to use your Theatre Tokens

Theatre Tokens gift cards, eGifts and paper Tokens can be redeemed in over 300 venues throughout the UK. A full list of participating venues and their contact details can be found here.

You can redeem your Theatre Tokens by contacting the box office directly, or online at the below websites only. The simplest way to contact a theatre box office is usually by email, though you can also reach them over the phone or in person. Please check the page of the theatre you wish to attend for their contact details. You will need your 16 digit Token Number and 4 digit PIN (found underneath the scratch off panel) - the image below shows where you will be able to find both numbers on your Theatre Token. If you are redeeming in person the theatre will be able scan the barcode.

You can use all or part of the balance on your Gift Card or eGift to pay, or part-pay for theatre tickets at participating venues. If the theatre tickets cost more than your Theatre Tokens balance you will need to pay the outstanding amount using cash or a debit/credit card.

Your Theatre Tokens can now be used to online to buy tickets at these venues.

I have received a Vodafone VeryMe Reward

Your £100 VeryMe Reward works like all Theatre Tokens and you can see here how and where you can use them.  

 

Please note however that this is a unique Vodafone VeryMe Rewards competition. Winners will have until 1st February 2025 to use this code. If not, they will lose access to the unique code via VeryMe and will forfeit their prize.

Do Theatre Tokens have an expiry date?

Theatre Tokens DO NOT have an expiry date.

All variations of the Tokens are therefore still redeemable, but some older versions of the voucher may need to be replaced for security reasons. See our information on ‘legacy vouchers’.

 

If you have won a Vodafone VeryMe £100 Theatre Token, please note that this DOES have an expiry date.  It is a unique Vodafone VeryMe Reward.  Winners will have until 1st February 2025 to use this code. If not, they will lose access to the unique code via VeryMe and will forfeit their prize.

 

 

Where is my PIN?

You will need your PIN to redeem and/or register your Theatre Token.

Your PIN is a four digit number that is usually found on the reverse of the Theatre Token behind a scratch-off panel.

On some designs, the scratch-off panel and PIN is found on the front of the voucher.

If the number underneath the scratch-off panel is longer than four numbers, please only use the final four digits (ignoring any dashes) as your PIN. Please ignore the "Void if Removed" warning, this no longer is true and removing the scratch-off panel will not void your Theatre Token.

 

If you have no scratch-off panel or PIN, you may need to upgrade your voucher. You can do this by sending a photo or scan of your Token number(s) to hello@theatretokens.com

All physical orders are despatched on the next working day (Monday-Friday).

Orders despatched via Royal Mail 1st Class Post have a delivery time of normally 2-3 working days from the order date. There is a £1.99 charge that covers the postage and packing of the product.

Orders despatched via Royal Mail Special Delivery require a signature on delivery and are guaranteed delivery by 9pm the next working day, when ordered before 1pm.

We regret that we cannot deliver on Sundays and Bank Holidays and we cannot deliver internationally.

If you need your Theatre Tokens quickly or you want to send them to someone who is not in the UK, we suggest choosing our eGift option so the Theatre Tokens can be emailed directly to your recipient almost immediately.

CAN THEATRE TOKENS BE SENT DIRECTLY TO THE RECIPIENT?

Yes, we can send them directly to the recipient if you supply us with their name, address and an accompanying message. For plastic Gift Cards the recipient must live in the UK, but our eGifts can be sent straight to their email inbox anywhere in the world!

 

DO YOU ACCEPT ORDERS FROM OVERSEAS?

We can accept orders from outside of the UK but can only dispatch Gift Cards to a UK delivery address. However, we are able to send directly to your recipient’s UK address.

This does not affect eGift purchases which can be sent to any valid email address.

You can also purchase Theatre Tokens Gift Cards to be posted worldwide from our friends at First Bookshop in Londonderry, Northern Ireland (Token House Partnership, Casni, 43 John Street, Cityside, Derry, BT48 6JY).

 

CAN I PRINT OUT MY EGIFT?

Yes, simply print out your voucher using the download button. If you are using a a phone or tablet the theatre can scan directly from the device or key in the Token number. We do, however, recommend you download the Theatre Token to your device for easy access and safekeeping.

What payment methods can I use to purchase Theatre Tokens?

Can I protect my Gift Card, eGift and Vouchers?

We recommend that all recipients of Theatre Tokens take a moment to register their Tokens on our website.This allows us to trace the Token numbers using your e-mail address in the event that they are lost or stolen. Please note we can only replace the available balance at the time you notify the Theatre Tokens Team.

Gift Me Theatre - how to request a top up

Did you know you can ask others to top up your existing Theatre Token? Just ask them to Gift Me Theatre!

Your Token needs to be registered before you can do this.

Just login (or create an account if you don't have one yet) and go to 'Register Tokens' tab.

If your Token is already registered there will be an option next to it to 'Request Topup'. Or register your Token to see that option. Please note that you can only topup an eGift or Gift Card. Paper Tokens cannot be topped up.

You can then either enter the email address of a friend to send the topup request to, or copy the individual link that is created and send to whoever you want.

The recipient of the request will see it is from you, and the last 4 digits of the Token - nothing else.

Ask people to hep you celebrate a special occasion, maybe a birthday or wedding. Or collect with your friends to get the Gift Of Theatre for someone!

I have found some old Tokens, can I still use them?

Theatre Tokens have no expiry date so as long as they haven’t already been redeemed you can use them. For security reasons, some older versions of our Theatre Tokens will need to be replaced before using. We call these our ‘legacy vouchers’ and you can find out more here.

My Gift Card, eGift or paper Theatre Tokens are not working

Please make sure you have read and understood the particulars of our “how to use” page.

If you hold older Theatre Tokens, please check whether these are our ‘legacy vouchers’ as they will need replacing before you redeem them.

If you have tried to use your Tokens directly with a participating venue and have given the correct information but your Tokens are still not working, please send a photograph showing the back of the Tokens to hello@theatretokens.com.

What can I do if my Gift Card, eGift or Vouchers are lost or stolen?

If you have registered your Tokens on our website then simply contact us with your e-mail address. We will then trace and cancel your lost Token number and send you a replacement eGift immediately.

Please note we can only replace the available balance at the time you notify the Theatre Tokens Team.

If your Tokens are lost or stolen and have not been registered, please send us the Token numbers (if you have them). Alternatively, providing the Tokens were purchased directly from us, we can trace the Token numbers using the purchaser e-mail address or the original order number.

If your Tokens are lost or stolen, have not been registered and you are not the purchaser, please contact the purchaser to contact us so we can send you a replacement.

Does it matter if the theatre tickets cost more or less than my Theatre Tokens?

No. If the tickets cost less than your Theatre Tokens Gift Card or eGift the remaining balance will be available to use next time. If you are redeeming a paper Theatre Token and require change you will be given a Gift Card with your change value. If the tickets cost more than your Theatre Tokens, you can make the additional payment with the accepted payment method of your chosen theatre.

What do I do if I want to swap my Leisure, Compliments or One4all vouchers for Theatre Tokens?

Theatre Tokens no longer accept Leisure, Compliments or Sodexo SayShopping Vouchers. 

 

WHAT DO I DO IF I WANT TO SWAP MY ONE4ALL CARD FOR THEATRE TOKENS?

One4all cards can now be redeemed online. Simply follow the instructions below:

  • Use your own name and address as the billing address of the card.
  • In payment options at the checkout, select ‘Mastercard/Visa'.
  • Use the Valid Thru date on the front of the card in the Expiry Date box.
  • Find the CVV2 number behind the silver panel on the back of the card.

Please note due to new anti-money laundering regulations, the maximum online spend that One4all will accept is £40. If you wish to redeem more than £40 on one token, you will have to buy an eGift of £40 and then top-up the same Theatre Token in subsequent transactions of £40 or less.

Theatre Tokens can also be purchased with One4all Kid's Favourites, One4aLL Teen Favourites, and One4all Entertainment Favourites cards.

Can I get a refund on my Theatre Tokens?

Any request for a refund must be made directly by the purchaser (and not the recipient) of the Theatre Tokens to the relevant issuing retailer of the Theatre Tokens. If you have purchased your Theatre Tokens directly from Society of London Theatre, you have the right to cancel this order and receive a refund, provided that the Theatre Tokens have not been redeemed and you do so in writing to us by emailing or submitting a query within 14 days of receipt of your order.

Society of London Theatre (SOLT) is the not-for-profit organisation which provides a collective voice for the theatre owners, producers and managers of all the major commercial and grant-aided theatres across London. As well as protecting the interests of all its member theatres, SOLT promotes theatregoing through activities including the Olivier Awards with MasterCard, the TKTS ticket booth, the Official London Theatre website and its printed fortnightly listings guide, Theatre Tokens and the popular annual celebration West End LIVE. It also administers the audience development initiatives Kids Week and The Official London Theatre Sale, and supports a number of theatrical charities including Stage One and Go Live Theatre Projects.
