There are some conversations we are understandably scared to have. But Deborah Frances-White is even more scared of not having them.Having grown up in a cult, Deborah knows the value of freedom of speech, critical thinking and the ability to disagree, while fighting for change. In her new book, Six Conversations We're Scared to Have, she encourages us to ask difficult questions, to really listen and to know when to negotiate and when to resist. Importantly, she explores how to change minds, including our own, and argues that we don't need to agree on everything to find a way forward on some of the biggest issues in today's world. Are you ready to talk? Each show will feature Deborah in conversation with a special guest. There will be a chance to put your own questions, and to grab a signed copy of Six Conversations We're Scared to Have.

John Crace has been the Guardian's political sketch writer for the last ten years and is one of the paper's most loved columnists. Join us to discuss his new satirical memoir, written from the eyes of his beloved dog, Herbie. A chance encounter with Sadiq Khan's labrador landed Herbie a job as a special advisor to Ed Miliband in 2014. Summoned by David Cameron, he worked on the Remain campaign. He experienced the pain of working with Theresa May; was sacked and rehired by Boris Johnson to advise on Covid; was at Balmoral when the Queen died; had a ringside seat for Liz Truss; was fired by Rishi Sunak; then latterly taken on by Keir Starmer. These are the stories the politicians didn't want you to know. What are Larry the Cat and Dilyn the Dog really like? How did Charlotte Owen get a peerage? Herbert Hound, finally, tells all.

In 2015, composer and conductor Leo Geyer made a profound and haunting discovery: musical manuscripts written by prisoners in Auschwitz, which had been overlooked in the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum archives. After years of meticulous restoration, in collaboration with historians, musicologists, and Holocaust survivors, these fragments of history come to life in The Orchestras of Auschwitz. This opera-ballet premiere commemorates 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz, through an evocative blend of music, dance, and drama. A series of vignettes showcases the raw and truthful stories of the prisoner orchestras - from their harrowing reality, moments of defiance, and secret acts of hope through hidden musical messages and private compositions. The production will be choreographed by the internationally acclaimed Claudia Schreier, with restored music performed by Constella Music.

This is not a musical. Milton Jones is tone deaf and has no sense of rhythm, but at least he doesn’t make a song and dance about it.He has more important things to discuss. Like giraffes…and there’s a bit about tomatoes. You might know him from Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo or Radio 4. Or that time he stood for the Scottish National Party, fought a hard campaign, but in the end had to respect the wishes of the people of Cardiff. A whole new show of daftness. You know it makes sense. *WARNING* contains jokes from the start

In 1968, the Bloomsbury Theatre officially opened as The Central Collegiate Building for University College London (UCL) with the support of a University Grants Committee funding scheme. The theatre now offers a professional year-round programme of innovative drama, music, comedy and dance. The main theatre was closed for three years between 2015 to 2018 in order to carry out restoration works. Prior to the renovation work, the main theatre had gained a reputation in a number of genres, including intimate productions of operatic works and inventive stand-up comedy. Drawing on its University foundations, the theatre had also developed a reputation for holding science-based comedy shows and broader academic events. The Bloomsbury Theatre began its existence as the premier stage for some of the nation’s greatest comedic talent including the likes of Lily Savage, Eddie Izzard, Jo Brand, Jeremy Hardy, Mel and Sue, John Shuttleworth and Sooty, to name but a few! It has carried this reputation into more recent years, acting as the chosen venue by top comedians to create filmed recordings of their performances, including those of Ricky Gervais, Jimmy Carr and Harry Hill. The Bloomsbury is also a growing venue for music, having hosted the Zombies, Adele, Paul Simon and Ray Davies, in recent years. The building has two performance spaces: the main theatre which seats 535 people, and the Bloomsbury Studio which is a flexible floor space holding up to 70. The studio regularly hosts events from University College London including Bright Club, student productions, and research-related events. The main theatre is also home to the best of the university’s budding actors, holding their annual drama production for a twelve-week run.
