Annie
From:25-02-2025
To:01-03-2025

Much-loved family favourite Annie comes to Lichfield Garrick from 25 February - 1 March 2025.

This funny, lively and touching musical about a New York orphan who goes to stay with a millionaire amid the Great Depression, has delighted audiences for almost 50 years.

Little Annie yearns to find her parents who left her as a baby at cruel Miss Hannigan’s orphanage. When Annie is chosen to stay at high-profile businessman Oliver ‘Daddy’ Warbucks’ mansion, while she leaves her friends behind, she escapes Miss Hannigan’s clutches and the misery of the orphanage. For the first time she is warm, cared for and living in the lap of luxury, but this sparky and honest little girl’s presence soon proves to be much more than a good deed done by Daddy Warbucks. She brings a new perspective to the gruff millionaire’s life and reminds him there is more to life than money and power. So much so that he determines to reunite her with her parents, but will she find them or find herself in danger at the hands of con artists and criminals – some of whom seem strangely familiar?

This Tony Award-winning show is proudly presented by Sutton Coldfield Musical Theatre Company, who return to Lichfield Garrick Theatre following the success of Kinky Boots (May 2024) and their award-winning production of Shrek the Musical (September 2023).

With well-known songs like ‘Hard-Knock Life’, ‘Maybe’, ‘You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile’ and ‘Tomorrow’, a host of laughs, a lively ‘orphan’ cast, and big song and dance numbers, Annie is the perfect show to bring young and old together for a musical theatre experience.

Blackeyed Theatre in association with Harrogate Theatre and South Hill Park Arts Centre presents
Dracula

By Bram Stoker

Adapted for the Stage by Nick Lane

Director – Nick Lane

Composer – Tristan Parkes

The time is 1897. Mankind is on the cusp of vast technological change, scientific mastery and media innovation. But poised between traditional beliefs, the threat of the unknown and the shock of the new world, an altogether darker fear is emerging. As a new shadow looms large over England, a small group of young men and women, led by Professor Van Helsing, are plunged into an epic struggle for survival.

Stretching from London, through provincial England, to the mountainous wastes of Transylvania, Bram Stoker’s timeless gothic thriller embodies the struggle to break taboos, resist temptation and stop the unknown outside becoming the enemy within.

Adapted by Nick Lane, this brilliant, theatrical treatment of Bram Stoker’s adventure blends Victorian Gothic with the Contemporary, showcasing Blackeyed Theatre’s trademark ensemble performance style and featuring a haunting soundscape, powerful performances and innovative design for an exhilarating theatrical experience.

To:11-06-2025

The hits earned their place in pop history. From Poison Arrow to The Look Of Love, from All Of My Heart, and Be Near Me, to When Smokey Sings, ABC were the band that redefined glamour and cool. Led by the charismatic Martin Fry, they enjoyed TransAtlantic success as The Lexicon of Love proved as artful as a Warhol silkscreen, and glossier than Marilyn’s lipstick. ABC’s The Lexicon of Love was a brilliantly distinctive debut album, fizzing with bright ideas, and unapologetically flamboyant. Frontman Martin Fry harked back to a golden era of luxe, as though Cole Porter had been re-imagined among the narrow streets of Sheffield. Little wonder his sleek, opulent, and beautiful debut retains the affection of listeners four decades on. With good reason, it has stood the test of time. And so has Martin Fry, who will bring an evening of stripped-back music and conversation to UK theatres in celebration. His intimate tour follows a sold-out tour of the UK, which included three sell out nights at London Palladium, and coincides with the publication of his autobiography. That’s the look, that’s the look… The Look of love.

This is not a musical. Milton Jones is tone deaf and has no sense of rhythm, but at least he doesn’t make a song and dance about it.

He has more important things to discuss. Like giraffes…and there’s a bit about tomatoes.

You might know him from Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo or Radio 4. Or that time he stood for the Scottish National Party, fought a hard campaign, but in the end had to respect the wishes of the people of Cardiff.

A whole new show of daftness. You know it makes sense.

Lichfield Garrick is a purpose-built theatre in Lichfield, Staffordshire. The theatre presents its own productions as well as touring shows. It forms a part of the local theatre community and is used by amateur companies for musicals and plays. It has been open since 2003 and has two creative spaces: the main auditorium which seats 562 people and the Studio which seats 157 people.

The current theatre was used to replace the old Arts Centre and Civic Hall, which was the main theatre venue until then. The £5.5 million project was completed in 2003. The architect Alan Short designed the building to include modern theatrical features such as a fly tower, and a natural ventilation system which is an award-winning architectural highlight.

Lichfield Garrick plays an important part in the local creative community, running programmes such as The Garrick Community Choir, The Garrick Youth Theatre and The Morning Chorus. The theatre operates separate to the local council, as a charitable trust.

The first production held at the Lichfield Garrick was The Recruiting Officer, which was directed by Corin Redgrave. Since then the theatre has been home to many successful productions such as Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? starring Matthew Kelly and Tracey Childs. The theatre presents a broad programme, including an annual Christmas pantomime.
