Emma Martin / United Fall - Birdboy
From:20-02-2025
To:22-02-2025
+ More Info +

Irish choreographer Emma Martin makes her London debut with Birdboy, a “ground-breaking” solo performance bringing you into a frenzied, absurd and sometimes otherworldly landscape of isolation, fantasy and letting go.

Birdboy is a trip into the chaotic and vivid inner world of someone who doesn’t fit in, with a highly physical performance by dancer Kévin Coquelard.

This visually arresting work, Martin’s first for all-age audiences, incorporates her raw style of movement and theatrical magic that never panders to expectations of work for younger viewers.

Mythili Prakash - She’s Auspicious
From:28-02-2025
To:02-03-2025
+ More Info +

Alongside an all-female cast, Mythili Prakash explores the relationship between “femininity” and “purity”. Be immersed in mythical narratives surrounding the Goddess Devi, the woman, the dancing body, and the social and performative constructs of bharatanatyam.

The Goddess was created by male gods, generated with their energies and weapons to kill an army of demons. By inhabiting this character she explores psychological states that challenge the ideals of “restraint” that characterise femininity in both classical dance and in society.

A second generation Indian and American artist, Mythili belongs to a new generation of classical Indian dancers. A regular collaborator of Akram Khan, she is one of the most celebrated and respected bharatanatyam choreographers and dancers today.

The Köln Concert - Trajal Harrell / Zürich Dance Ensemble
From:04-04-2025
To:05-04-2025
+ More Info +

Arriving at the Cologne Opera in 1975, Keith Jarrett noticed the piano he was about to play on was not the right one. Despite his annoyance, he embarked upon an hour-long improvisation, the recording of which became one of the highest-selling albums in the history of classical music and jazz: The Köln Concert.

For many years the American choreographer, Trajal Harrell, dreamt of putting this recording into movement. Now Trajal’s dream has become reality, as he pairs Jarrett’s playing with four bittersweet songs by Joni Mitchell.

Onstage, we see seven piano stools, one for each performer. Draped in black, tip-toeing, Trajal and his six fellow performers create a dance form that crosses genres, where voguing meets influences from Ancient Greek to Japanese Noh theatre.
